Fitzroy Genus Named Employee of the Month At Bethel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

Fitzroy Genus has the singular distinction of being named the first Employee of the Month at Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Croton-on-Hudson, as part of a new program to recognize staff whose commitment and hard work truly make a difference in the lives of those around them.

Says Jill Smoller, Administrator of the 200 bed facility, “Fitzroy has been an integral member of Bethel’s Housekeeping Department for 16 years and in that time has consistently demonstrated a positive and thorough approach in everything he does. He is universally respected and liked by co-workers, residents, family members and all who meet him.”

As a housekeeper on Bethel’s short-term, sub-acute unit, Fitzroy interacts with residents and staff while carrying out his responsibilities each day. “He is quiet and soft-spoken, but has a big presence on the floor. He is everyone’s go-to guy,” says Jill. “All the staff burst into a loud cheer at the presentation when they learned Fitzroy had been selected as Employee of the Month,” she continued.

“I was shocked when I heard my name called out,” says Fitzroy. “I was not expecting it.” As part of the recognition, he received a monetary gift and sole access to a specially designated parking spot for the month.

Says Fitzroy, “I like to come here each day and do the best job I can and I also enjoy getting along with everyone, both staff and residents. Bethel is a nice place to work.”

Fitzroy is married with three children and two grandchildren (Ava and Shasidia) with whom he loves to spend time. In addition to being with his family, Fitzroy enjoys working in his vegetable garden.
